City Clerk

Duties:

The City Clerk serves as the custodian of records for the City of Kirksville, including minutes, ordinances, resolutions, contracts and other vital documents. When citizens have Sunshine Requests (requests for public information), they are submitted to the City Clerk's Office for processing.

The City Clerk also provides clerical support to the City Council and City Manager, and administers the oath of office to sworn personnel and newly elected City Officials. The City Clerk is who citizens should contact when they wish to speak to a Council Member or the City Manager.

Various Boards & Committees:

The City Clerk maintains a list of all city-appointed Boards and Commissions, and citizens are encouraged to contact the Clerk if they would like to serve. Appointments to the various boards and commissions are approved by the City Council.

Additionally, the City Clerk oversees the Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery, and the Friends of Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery Committee.

Council Filing:

The City Clerk accepts filings for City Council prior to the April election according to Missouri State Statutes. Please call for those dates.
