The City has two rules in the Code of Ordinances that define noise and when it disturbs the peace.
Chapter 24 - NUISANCES (Sec. 24-27) defines the permitted level of sound, depending on whether it resides in a residential or commercial district.
Chapter 26 - OFFENSES (Sec. 26-164) provides an exhaustive list of noises that are not allowed between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am, with some exceptions. Some, but not all, examples include vehicles, animals, construction, and music.
If a noise exceeds the permitted level of sound and falls under the list of noises not allowed, then this constitutes a disturbance of the peace. Contact the Codes and Planning Department for more information at 660.627.1272.
